Pete's Tavern

Pete's Tavern has been around since 1864 and is located in NYC on Irving Place and 18th street in a neighborhood called Gramercy. Although there are many restaurants on Irving Place, Pete's Tavern would be the one restaurant that would always stop me in my tracks. I would always ogle at the patrons dining outside chomping on huge burgers and steak fries. I always said to myself I really need to come here one day and try their burger and fries. So on a spring day after work I finally took the plunge.
Pete's Tavern offers many options as far as a good menu goes not to mention the prices are reasonable as well. So if burgers and fries are not your thing, have no worries there will be something on the menu to fill your palate.  My friend and I opted to try an appetizer so we ordered the coconut shrimp. Coconut shrimp is always a favorite of mine and they were quite yummy but preferred them without the dipping sauce that came with it.
Now on to the burger...I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with of course the steak fries. The burger was a good size, I would put it in a jumbo burger category. I ordered it well done and it was, it also had this flame broiled taste to it, not like a burger king burger but more like right off the grill at a bbq kind of flame broiled. The fries were crispy and fresh as well.
Overall Pete's Tavern lived up to my expectations. Sitting outside on a nice spring day in NYC enjoying a juicy burger is the ideal way to end a long day. I definitely recommend Pete's Tavern if you are looking for a nice low key place to enjoy good food. It was an added bonus that I decided to try it during the spring time because I got to sit outside and people watch at the same time.

What is your favorite place for burgers in NYC?
